SOTD: "Slow Train" - Streets of Laredo

Streets Of Laredo will be performing with Delta Spirit at their upcoming Bowery Ballroom show on Weds. 10/1. This will be the band's first date on their fall tour in support of their first full-length album, Volume I & II on Dine Alone Records, out October 7th. Local Natives: Live at MHOW 2/1/13

Local Natives are broadcasting their show from the Music Hall Of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, NY tonight. The show should kick off around 10pm tonight, follow live HERE.

Frank Ocean @ Bowery Ballroom 11/28/11

A few weeks back I went to check out Frank Ocean at the Bowery Ballroom with some friends. Frank was solo on stage, mostly singing tracks off his album "Nostalgia, Ultra". I wrote about him in my Favorite 50 songs of 2011 but I was really impressed with the show. He's got a strong voice and even though he had backing tracks for the song, there was no band, he was literally a one-man show on stage. Highlights for me were definitely "Novacane", "Swim Good" and "Dust". I look forward to seeing Frank perform again soon, hopefully in 2012.

SOTD: "Get The Wheel" - Greg Dulli

Here's a good one from Greg Dulli, who you may know from The Afghan Whigs or The Twilight Singers. He'll be playing Bowery Ballroom next Monday night, the 18th as part of the CMJ Music Marathon. Tickets are available HERE.

SOTD: "The Day Brings" - Brad

This song is a big old but so good (and underrated). If you're a fan of Pearl Jam, chances are that you know Brad as Stone Gossard's other band. They're on tour now and hit the Bowery Ballroom this weekend.

We Were Promised Jetpacks @ Bowery Ballroom 2/11/10

Last Thursday night, my buddy Chuck and I went down to the Bowery Ballroom to check out We Were Promised Jetpacks. This foursome from Scotland has played a couple shows in NYC but I hadn't been able to see them so I was real excited for this go around.

I picked their album "These Four Walls" as one of my favorites of 2009 and I think I like it more and more after every listen. The group came out and started the show with a long intro leading into "Keeping Warm" (video below). They played a set consisting of mostly songs from their album with a couple I didn't recognize mixed in about half way through. I thought they sounded real good and was impressed by their show. Highlights included "Conductor", "Roll Up Your Sleeves" and "Quiet Little Voices".
