Subway Shuffle: 9/20/10
SUBWAY SHUFFLE 9/20/10
Track #1: City & Colour: "Sleeping Sickness"
Track #2: Sean Bones: "Sugar In My Spoon"
Track #3: Pearl Jam: "Footsteps"
Track #4: Justin Townes Earle: "Midnight At The Movies"
Track #5: Phoenix: "Girlfriend"
A bit all over the place with this mix but some great songs in here (and a few you might not know).......
"Sleeping Sickness" - The first time I saw City & Colour was actually by accident, I caught him (Dallas Green) opening for Tegan & Sara at Terminal 5 and he caught my ear. This is one of my favorite songs off the album "Bring Me Your Love" and also features Gordon Downie of The Tragically Hip.
"Sugar In My Spoon" - I don't even know where I first heard Sean Bones but I really dig his album "Rings". This song is a lot of fun, great summer/drinking tune.
"Footsteps" - Easily one of my favorite Pearl Jam songs. Even though it's considered a rarity, I've been lucky enough to catch it a handful of times in concert. Intense lyrically and musically.
"Midnight at the Movies" - I discovered Justin Townes Earle about a year ago and have been listening ever since. He just finished a great Daytrotter session and this is without a doubt one of my favorite songs by him (found this cool live version).
"Girlfriend" - One of many great songs off the Phoenix album, "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix". If you don't have this album, definitely pick it up..... really good from start to finish.
Alright everybody, have a great night.

City and Colour,
Justin Townes Earle,

Subway Shuffle: 9/14/10
SUBWAY SHUFFLE 9/14/10
Track #1: Pearl Jam: "Unthought Known"
Track #2: Kings of Leon: "Use Somebody"
Track #3: Empire of the Sun: "Walking on a Dream"
Track #4: Arcade Fire: "Half Light I"
Track #5: The Black Keys: "Never Gonna Give You Up"
After a long workday I hit a great group of songs on the way home.......
"Unthought Known" - My favorite song off Pearl Jam's latest album "Backspacer", judging by the live shows I caught this one has quickly become a fan favorite.
"Dream the dreams of other men, you'll be no one's rival".......
"Use Somebody" - Everybody knows this song (at least I think), heard it pretty much everywhere over the last year. Still love it though, one of those songs I never change once it comes on.
"Walking on a Dream" - Dig this band, Empire of the Sun. This song always reminds me of my last job where we'd play these guys almost daily. Cool music, bet they'd put on a fun show.
"Half Light I" - Chill song from Arcade Fire, off their most current album "The Suburbs". Not my favorite tune on the album but it's such a good record that there's not much I can't enjoy. Like the part at 2:11 where it really kicks in.
"Never Gonna Give You Up" - I wrote a bit about this song a little while back HERE. Definitely one of my favorite tunes off the most recent Black Keys album, "Brothers".

Arcade Fire,
Empire of the Sun,
Kings of Leon,
Pearl Jam,

Brad Klausen @ Bumbershoot TONIGHT
For any west coast fans of Brad Klausen and his artwork, Just got this email from his camp. Looks like he'll be making an appearance tonight at the Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle. Love this guy's work, has made some amazing Pearl Jam posters.
"If you happen to live in Seattle and are attending Bumbershoot today,
myself and Jay Ryan will be participating in a moderated panel discussion
about making posters. Jay and I will each speak and show slides about our
process. Daniel Smith will be moderating the discussion and along with
showing slides of our process we will also be speaking with a musician
we've worked with. David Yow of the Jesus Lizard will be speaking about
working with Jay, and Mike McCready will be speaking about working
with me.
The publishers of my book, Akashic Books, also put out both of Jay's books,
and originally we were hoping my book would be finished in time for this
appearance... unfortunately all the parts for the book didn't come together
in time. So I won't have any copies of my book, but Jay will have copies
of both of his books.
We will be speaking from 7:15 - 8:15 PM at the Leo K. Theatre at the Seattle
Center. "
